The ruling party Awami League and its affiliate Jubo League have announced two more ‘peace rally’ programs in Dhaka. Dhaka Metropolitan North Awami League will hold a rally at Pallabi No. 12 Lalmath tomorrow Thursday at 3 pm. Central leaders including Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader will be present.
Before this rally, the Dhaka Metropolitan South Jubo League will hold a rally in front of the Awami League’s central office on Bangabandhu Avenue at 2:30 p.m. This information was informed by the Central Committee of Dhaka Metropolitan North Awami League and Jubo League.
BNP will hold a padayatra program in Dhaka at 2 pm on this day. The march organized by Mahanagara South BNP is scheduled to end at the press club from Gopi Bagh in the capital. Central leaders including BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will participate in it. BNP’s program was announced last Monday.
According to Awami League party sources, they have instructions to stay in the field with a counter program to any program of BNP. For this, Awami League has decided to hold two peace rallies today after BNP announced the march program in Dhaka. However, Dhaka Metropolitan South Awami League has no program tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Dhaka Metropolitan North BNP will hold a padayatra program from Shyamoli to Bachila next Sunday. Sources of the party said that Awami League will also hold a peace rally on that day. Metropolitan South Awami League may hold rally at Bangabandhu Avenue and Jubo League at Farmgate.
On the previous day, Awami League will hold a peace rally at the union level across the country on Saturday. In at least 40 districts, party central leaders have been instructed to participate. The remaining districts will be led by party MPs and district committee leaders. On that day, BNP also has a march program at the union level. They announced this program earlier.
A central leader of Awami League told Prothom Alo on condition of anonymity that BNP will not be allowed to rule the streets. As a result, wherever they hold a rally or march, Awami League will also appear there with a counter program. However, the party has instructions not to go into conflict with BNP.
