Gana Odhikar Parishad Member Secretary Nurul Haque addressed the protest rally in front of the National Press Club to protest against the increase in the price of fuel. The member secretary of Gana Odhikar Parishad and former VP of DAKSU Nurul Haque commented that the government has taken the country to the edge of the abyss through corruption and looting. He said that fuel prices have been increased to cut people’s pockets.
Nurul Haque made such comments in a rally in front of the National Press Club of the capital on Saturday afternoon. This rally was organized to protest against the increase in the price of fuel oil.

Earlier, the government increased the price of fuel oil on Friday night. Diesel and kerosene prices were increased by Tk 34 to Tk 114 per liter, petrol price was increased by Tk 44 to Tk 130 and octane price was increased by Tk 46 to Tk 135. The new price is effective from 12:00 PM on Friday.

In the protest rally, Nurul Haque said that the government has brought the country to the brink of destruction by ensnaring the government party leaders and workers in unlimited corruption, money laundering and debt. Now imports are not able to meet the expenditure, reserves are running out. So fuel prices have been hiked abnormally to cut money from people’s pockets.

Nurul Haque mentioned that the price of everything will increase as a result of the increase in the price of fuel oil. Transport fare will increase, people will suffer.

Nurul Haque said that if the price of fuel oil is not reduced immediately, the movement to topple the government will start. He said, whether the people live or die, the government does not care. Because they are not accountable to the people.

Under the direction of Public Rights Council joint member secretary Abduz Zaher, joint conveners Muhammad Rashed Khan, Farooq Hasan, Abu Hanif, Youth Rights Council President Manjur Morshed, Labor Rights Council President Abdur Rahman and Student Rights Council President Bin Yamin Mollah also addressed the rally.
