Finally, the country’s first six-lane scenic bridge is being inaugurated on Monday. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the bridge through video conference from Ganobhaban. After that, vehicles will run on the bridge from 12:00 pm today.

The bridge has been constructed on Madhumati River at Kalna Ghat of Lohagara Upazila of Narail. The bridge has been named as Madhumati Bridge. The people of Narail and surrounding districts are happy with the news of the opening of the bridge. A festive atmosphere has been created on both sides of the bridge.

It was seen that there was a crowd of eager people staying in the bridge area from Sunday afternoon to eight o’clock. They are roaming around as they are not allowed to climb the bridge due to security reasons.

The inauguration stage has been set up at the Kalna end of the Lohagarh of the bridge. The Prime Minister will join the video conference through five screens there. Today’s opening ceremony was rehearsed from the Prime Minister’s office at around three o’clock yesterday.

In the evening, bridge project director Shyamal Bhattacharya and project manager Md. talked in the bridge area. With Ashrafuzzaman. They said that the bridge will be opened for traffic from 12 midnight today. 84 solar lamp posts have been installed on the bridge. The bridge is illuminated. A toll plaza of eight booths has also been fully prepared. Toll will be taken digitally from November 1. Before this toll will be collected manually. These officials said, the opening ceremony will start from 11:30 am. The Prime Minister will join the inauguration ceremony virtually from Ganobhaban at 12 noon. After the speeches of the guests, the Prime Minister will give a speech at 12:30 noon and announce the inauguration of the bridge.

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Habibur Rahman told Prothom Alo that a pandal with a capacity of 1,000 guests has been constructed for the opening ceremony. Vehicular movement through Kalna Ghat has been restricted since 11:30 pm yesterday.
