
The rally of BNP will start tomorrow Saturday at 11 am at Golap Bagh ground in the capital. BNP has asked for police cooperation in the preparation and security of this rally. Khandkar Mosharraf Hossain, a member of the BNP Standing Committee, said this in a press conference today at 4 pm. This press conference was held at the BNP Chairperson’s office in Gulshan.
The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) today allowed the BNP to hold a rally at Golapbagh after several days of pressure over the venue of the BNP’s Dhaka divisional rally in the capital. After that, BNP Central Committee Vice Chairman A ZM Zahid Hossain also said that they were informed about the permission of the rally at Golapbagh ground by the senior officials of DMP.
BNP held a press conference today after this permission fair. There, Khandkar Mosharraf Hossain said, ‘The rally will start at 11 o’clock tomorrow. We want the cooperation of the police for the construction of a stage, installation of microphones and security at Golap Bagh.
Khandaker Musharraf requested all levels of the party leaders and supporters to attend this rally. He especially called upon the people of Dhaka to attend the rally to “react against the government’s tyranny, tyranny and oppression”. Apart from this, he called upon those who are participating in the simultaneous movement of BNP to play their role from their respective positions. He called for support for the 10-point outline against the government in the rally.
In the press conference, BNP Standing Committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Abdul Moin Khan, Nazrul Islam Khan, Iqbal Hasan Mahmud (Tuku), Selima Rahman, vice chairman of the party. Shahjahan, Abdul Awal (Mintu), AZM Zahid Hossain, Central Legal Affairs Secretary Kaiser Kamal and others were present.
About three months ago, BNP announced mass rally program in 10 divisional cities. BNP had submitted a written application to the DMP Commissioner on November 13 and November 20 seeking permission for Nayapaltan to hold a mass meeting in Dhaka on December 10.
BNP wants to hold rally in Nayapaltan. But DMP asked BNP to hold a rally at Suhrawardy Udyan. Later, there were rounds of discussions between the two sides about alternative venues outside Nayapaltan and Suhrawardy Udyan.
BNP leaders and workers clashed with the police in Nayapaltan last Wednesday afternoon during the discussion on the location of the rally. One person was killed in the clash. Since then Nayapaltan area of the capital is under police control. Police are also deployed in front of the central office of BNP.
