Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has approved a budget of Tk 6 thousand 741 crore 28 lakh for the financial year 2022-23. The budget was approved with the consent of all in the fifteenth corporation meeting (board meeting) of the second council of the corporation at the Mayor Hanif auditorium of the city building of South City on Tuesday.

Regarding the budget, DSCC Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Tapos said, “I am very happy that with the tireless efforts of the councilors and officials, I have been able to lay the foundations of a better Dhaka to meet the expectations of the people of Dhaka in the last two years.” Breaking the all-time history, we collected more than 879 crore revenue in the last financial year. In just two years, I have turned a fragile corporation into a corporation trusted by the people of Dhaka.

Reviewing the past budget, the mayor said, ‘When I presented the first budget in this corporation meeting, the revenue collection was only Tk 514 crore. We have been able to gain the trust of the people of Dhaka by taking effective anti-corruption measures through the tireless work of the councilors and officials, sound work planning and management. As a result, 703 crores of revenue was collected last year despite the corona epidemic. And in this financial year, we have broken the previous record by collecting 176 crore rupees more revenue than last time.

In the budget meeting, an officer was awarded the ‘Shuddhachar Award’ and a councilor was awarded as the ‘Best Councillor’. Russell Sabrin, the Corporation’s Chief Property Officer, received the Purity Award. The Councilor of Ward No. 42 of Dhaka South City and President of the Finance and Organization Committee of the Corporation Mohammad Salim was given the best councilor award.

One month’s basic salary was given to the chief property officer and 50 thousand rupees to the best councilor as a merit award. Apart from this both of them have been given memorials and certificates. Chief executive officer Farid Ahmed and other officials and councilors gave speeches in the event under the direction of South City Secretary Akramuzzaman.
